Sustainability grant for activities that make a difference

At TRDC and W3RT we understand times are tough for the Voluntary Sector. Managing the pandemic at the same time as the world is experiencing a climate emergency. 

  

We are launching a grant to provide financial support to aid you in providing support to the community while still reaching your sustainability goals around recycling and education, or reducing emissions and even measuring impact of working from home.  

 

The grant is for projects & activities that make a difference to the community and is to ensure, that through the current Covid-19 crisis the issues around climate change are also looked at. Your organisation may be actively undertaking climate change, conservation or sustainability work and need help to keep going, or you may need help adopting more sustainability practices. Please review the criteria and if you think you could qualify, please apply - we really look forward to hearing from you. 

If you do not fit the criteria below, but think you could qualify, please apply and tell us why.

 

 

The grant is open to support activities that are 100% charitable and carried out by any legally constituted group: 

  1. Established local charities or community groups that have adopted new ways of working through the Covid-19 crisis to meet the needs of existing service users (including delivering services in new ways) in a way that is sustainable and helps with the pursuit of climate & sustainability goals,

  2. New or established groups that have undertaken new work or new projects to meet the needs of prior service users or the wider community (including delivering support to people self-isolating or displaying symptoms) in a way that is sustainable and helps with the pursuit of climate & sustainability goals,

  3. New or established groups that have developed a new service or activity (that can help Three Rivers recover from the Covid-19 crisis) in a way that is sustainable and helps with the pursuit of climate & sustainability goals.

 

Climate & sustainability goals criteria:

  • Will the grant be used to promote Reduce, Reuse, Recycle?  

  • Examples being : Covid-19 secure equipment that is recyclable, additional signage used in your setting that is based around reduce, reuse and recycle, a repair café that looks to reduce waste but also helps to combat loneliness.

  • Will the grant money be used for sustainability / climate change messaging, education, and promotion? 

  • Is the project aiming to increase biodiversity/ rewilding? 

  • Is the grant being used to reduce energy use? 

  • Are the funds needed to measure you carbon emissions to inform a climate change action plan? 

  • Will the grant be used to carry out items on a climate change action plan? 

  • Are you looking to stage sustainability events or activities? 

  • Examples being: Growing and cooking with seasonal food, repair workshops, swap shop event. 

  • Will the funding be used to reduce water consumption or assist in preventing pollution of waterways? 

  • Does the project involve reducing littering and use of single use plastics.
